LA Phil Helps Bring Imaginations to Life with 3rd Annual LA Kids Book Festival at West Hollywood Park

A child’s mind is a world of endless possibilities. Every page turn, every new character, and every spoken word has the power to bring their wildest dreams to life. This year’s Los Angeles Kids Book Festival, promising a celebration of stories, music, and fun, is sponsored by Downtown’s own LA Phil and presented by the American Born Chinese Foundation in partnership with the City of West Hollywood.

The Los Angeles Kids Book Festival is a program of the American Born Chinese Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children’s bilingual literacy and cultural events. Bonnie Hyde, the founder and CEO of LAKBF, says their goal is to “make literacy and multicultural education accessible and joyful for all families,” and with the new additions, this year’s festival is their most inclusive yet.

The 3rd Annual Los Angeles Kids Book Festival is a free event and the largest of its kind in LA, celebrating early childhood education, bilingualism, and multiculturalism for young children and their families.

The festival promises an unforgettable day where the worlds from their favorite books leap from the page and into reality as families get to shake the very hands that draw the magical creatures and the minds that dream up the fantastical adventures, as nearly 100 children’s authors and illustrators from across the country gather to share their creations.

Special guests include actress Tika Sumpter, known for her role in Sonic The Hedgehog, making her characters feel real as she reads from her new book, I Got it From My Mama.

The festival stage will come alive with performances by The BeatBuds, the rhythmic energy of Chloé and Maud Arnold of Syncopated Ladies, and the sweet melodies of LoveBug & Me.

Kids’ creativity will truly be unleashed at the slime station provided by the Sloomoo Institute, where they can get their hands messy and bring their colorful, gooey ideas to life.

In addition to all-day story times that transport listeners to different worlds with every word, there will be food trucks, face painting, and an online auction featuring exclusive items from sponsors like the LA Rams and BOA.
