From Brazilian gauchos roaming dining rooms to Japanese A5 Wagyu, Argentine grills, French-Downtown Los Angeles has developed a surprisingly diverse steakhouse scene. Some are longtime Downtown institution, while others are newcomers changing what a steakhouse can look like.

H&H Brazilian Steakhouse — Where the Meat Never Stops

DTLA - House of the World’s Juiciest Steaks

At H&H Brazilian Steakhouse, putting down the fork may be the only way to surrender. Brazilian entrepreneur and sommelier Henrique Huyer founded H&H in 2019 as a modern take on the traditional churrascaria, with gauchos continuously carving picanha, filet mignon, ribeye, lamb, pork and chicken tableside. The meats are joined by a gourmet Farm Table, cocktails and South American wines. A detail many diners may not know is that H&H says its beef, lamb and chicken are certified Halal. H&H Brazilian Steakhouse is located in the Financial District at 518 W. 7th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90014.

Nick + Stef’s — Beef Gets Better With Age

DTLA - House of the World’s Juiciest Steaks

At Nick + Stef’s Steakhouse, aging is something to brag about. Executive Chef Megan Logan, a Le Cordon Bleu Pasadena graduate who worked her way through Patina Restaurant Group, oversees a menu built around USDA Prime beef dry-aged on-site for 28 days, including tomahawk, ribeye and New York strip, along with Wagyu and fresh seafood. The restaurant even makes its dry-aging program part of its identity, and its wine list stretches beyond 500 labels. Nick + Stef’s is located in Bunker Hill at 330 S. Hope Street, Los Angeles, CA 90071.

LA Prime — Dinner With Downtown at Your Feet

DTLA - House of the World’s Juiciest Steaks

LA Prime Steakhouse takes the classic steakhouse and puts it 35 stories in the air. Inside the landmark Westin Bonaventure, the restaurant serves Prime steaks and substantial seafood selections while Downtown spreads out beyond the windows. The location itself is the fun fact: dinner takes place inside one of Los Angeles’ most recognizable 1970s hotels, whose cylindrical glass towers have become a familiar part of the city skyline. LA Prime is located in the Financial District at 404 S. Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA 90071.

Fleming’s — Prime Time at L.A. LIVE

DTLA - House of the World’s Juiciest Steaks

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar puts Prime beef right in the middle of Downtown’s entertainment action. Chef Partner Juan Ortiz Contreras, who has a decade of culinary experience, oversees a menu of steaks, seafood and contemporary steakhouse dishes; his personal favorites include beef carpaccio and black-truffle filet tartare. Fleming’s was founded in 1998 with wine as a major part of its identity, and that steak-and-wine combination remains central today. Fleming’s is located in the Social District at L.A. LIVE, 800 W. Olympic Boulevard, Suite A-135, Los Angeles, CA 90015.

Mastro’s Ocean Club — Surf, Turf and a Little Nightlife

DTLA - House of the World’s Juiciest Steaks

Mastro’s Ocean Club is where steakhouse excess meets the sea. The menu brings together premium steaks with lobster, oysters, crab, sushi and seafood, while Mastro’s famously rich butter cake waits at the finish line. Unlike the hushed steakhouse stereotype, Ocean Club leans into nightlife and special-occasion energy, making dinner feel like the beginning of an evening rather than the end of one. Mastro’s Ocean Club is located in the Social District at 1200 S. Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA 90015.

NIKU X — Wagyu Without the Stop Sign

DTLA - House of the World’s Juiciest Steaks

At NIKU X | Premium Seafood & A5 Wagyu Steak Buffet, the words “all you can eat” take an expensive turn. The restaurant combines Japanese yakiniku-style grilling with an upscale buffet experience featuring Wagyu, seafood, sushi and other luxury ingredients. The fun is in the contradiction: A5 Wagyu is normally treated like culinary jewelry and sold in tiny portions, while NIKU X builds an entire abundance-driven experience around premium beef. NIKU X is located in the Financial District inside Wilshire Grand Center at 900 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 212, Los Angeles, CA 90017.

La Boucherie — Steak on the 71st Floor

DTLA - House of the World’s Juiciest Steaks

La Boucherie may win Downtown’s altitude contest. Sitting on the 71st floor of the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, the French-influenced steakhouse combines premium beef and seafood with charcuterie, cheese and an extensive wine program. Floor-to-ceiling windows turn Los Angeles itself into part of dinner, making the restaurant as much about the view as the meat. La Boucherie is located in the Financial District at 900 Wilshire Boulevard, 71st Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90017.

Maison Kasai — Dinner Becomes the Show

Maison Kasai | Teppanyaki doesn’t send the chef into hiding. Chef Joshua Gil’s restaurant, which opened in 2023, combines Japanese teppanyaki with French culinary influence, putting premium meats and seafood directly on the hot cooking surface in front of diners. The unusual French-Japanese combination separates it from the familiar American interpretation of teppanyaki, and the chef becomes part of the entertainment. Maison Kasai is located in the Social District inside Level 8 at 1254 S. Figueroa Street, 8th Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90015.

Vaca DTLA — Spain Has Entered the Steakhouse

DTLA - House of the World’s Juiciest Steaks

Vaca DTLA quietly arrived Downtown in December 2025, bringing chef Amar Santana’s Spanish cooking with it. Santana, known nationally from Top Chef, combines tapas, paella and Spanish flavors with dry-aged beef and a steakhouse sensibility. The restaurant is something of a hidden gem literally: first-time diners have sometimes found its tucked-away entrance confusing, adding an unexpected treasure hunt before dinner. Vaca DTLA is located in the Financial District at 960 W. 7th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90017.

Lucky’s — Montecito Is Coming Downtown

DTLA - House of the World’s Juiciest Steaks

From the never-ending skewers at H&H and Fogo to Nick + Stef’s dry-aged beef, the sky-high dining rooms of LA Prime and La Boucherie, NIKU X’s Wagyu extravaganza and the live flames at Qué Bárbaro, Downtown’s steak scene has become far more interesting than a row of traditional American steakhouses. And with Lucky’s preparing to bring a little Montecito swagger to the Arts District, there may soon be one more reason for DTLA carnivores to loosen their belts.
