Moderated by acclaimed music journalist Nic Harcourt, the GRAMMY Museum will welcome five-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist Angélique Kidjo to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate evening celebrating her newest album, HOPE!!. The program will feature a conversation about her remarkable career, creative process, and the inspiration behind the new record, followed by a special live performance.
For more than four decades, Kidjo has stood as one of the world’s most celebrated and influential musical artists. Born in the West African nation of Benin, she has built an extraordinary career blending African traditions with jazz, funk, R&B, Latin music, and pop while becoming a global ambassador for hope, unity, and cultural exchange. Her accomplishments include winning the 2023 Polar Music Prize, being named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, and earning five GRAMMY Awards for Best Global Music Album—a record recognized by Guinness World Records.
Her latest album, HOPE!!, continues that legacy while embracing a new generation of collaborators. Following the success of her Grammy-winning album Mother Nature, Kidjo once again brings together artists from across the musical spectrum, including Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers, Diane Warren, PJ Morton, French pop star Florent Pagny, Nigerian duo The Cavemen, and a talented group of international producers. The result is an uplifting collection that effortlessly crosses genres while showcasing Kidjo’s unmistakable voice and infectious energy.
The album also carries a deeply personal message. Dedicated to her late mother, HOPE!! was created during a period of profound loss and renewal. Angélique Kidjo will appear at the GRAMMY Museum’s Clive Davis Theater at L.A. Live on Monday, August 17, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Member check-in begins at 6:30 p.m., non-member doors open at 7:00 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.
