A New Era for The Hoxton as Mediterranean-Inspired Inanna Bar Takes Over the Rooftop

Seems the culinary landscape of Downtown Los Angeles is in constant motion. The Hoxton, which occupies downtown’s magnificent 1920s Beaux-Arts building, once the headquarters of the Los Angeles Railway, has long been a stylish destination, with world-class restaurants on the rooftop and the ground floor.

The Hoxton opened as a hotel in 2019 with the restaurant “Pilot” on the roof. In 2022, Boka Restaurant Group reheated the restaurant space with “Cabra”, a Peruvian-inspired dining experience from acclaimed chef Stephanie Izard. However, following a recent change in the hotel’s management —“the Goat” has now been completely reimagined.

The menu focuses on mezze, flatbreads, and grill-fired plates designed to be shared and savored. Bright, bold flavors shine in dishes like the Baba Ghanoush with smoked olive oil, tahina, and mint, served alongside warm za’atar pita, and the crispy Sumac Buttermilk Fried Wings featuring a za’atar crust, Aleppo honey, and herbs. From the grill, enjoy the Lamb Kofta with harissa almond, herbed salad, and charred lemon, and the Chicken Kebab with spiced chicken thighs, garlic yogurt, and sumac onions, both served with rice pilaf. Vegetables and seafood shine in plates like the Spiced Shrimp Tabbouleh Bowl (bulgur wheat, mint, cucumber, tomato, and lemon), King Fish Crudo accented with preserved lemon, pickles, and spiced vinaigrette, and Darra Labneh topped with fire-roasted corn ribs, lime zest, urfa biber, and aresheh. For a sweet finish, Mediterranean-inspired treats include the moist Cardamom Basbousa, a semolina cake soaked with lemon syrup and served with a dollop of whipped rose cream, or the rich Chocolate Pistachio Cheesecake featuring a pistachio crust, kefir cheesecake, chocolate sauce, crushed candied pistachios, and toasted katafi.

Complementing the fare is a curated mixology program that showcases globally inspired spices, bright citrus, and floral, herbal, and botanical notes. Highlights include the Pelopennesian Fashion—a riff on the classic Old Fashioned made with Metaxa 5 Star brandy, house-made fig syrup, chocolate bitters, and orange bitters—the Fleur de Cactus (Grey Goose vodka, aperitivo select, prickly pear-tarragon cordial, fresh lemon juice, and Cantina Globale Prosecco), and the Oro Andino (Peruvian pisco, saffron-infused honey, fresh lemon juice, Angostura bitters, and egg white). Zero-proof options, such as the Strawberry Coconut Spritz, are also available, alongside a rotating selection of locally sourced beer and wines from around the globe.

Inanna Bar is designed to be an ideal gathering place for long afternoons that linger into night. Hotel guests and visitors lounging poolside can snack on bar bites daily from 3:00pm to 5:00pm before the full restaurant opens for dinner at 5:00pm. During the week, diners can enjoy half-priced bites and drinks during Sunset Hour from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Dinner service runs Sundays through Thursdays from 5:00pm to 10:00pm, with the kitchen staying open later until 11:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays as a rotating slate of DJs sets the mood.
