Since its founding in the spring of 2005, The Hive Gallery and Studios has served as a vibrant think-tank and a cornerstone of the Downtown Los Angeles art scene. As one of the longest-standing pillars of the community, the gallery has been instrumental in positioning DTLA as a global art destination. Far from the traditional white-wall experience, The Hive operates as a living community hub, featuring hundreds of working artists, within its two full galleries, and a high-energy atmosphere that is just as alive as the neo-pop and illustrative art it showcases. This January, The Hive continues its legacy of accessibility and community-driven art with a major milestone for its monthly rotating exhibition schedule.
The Hive is currently featuring Hive Tarot 17 as its premier rotating exhibition highlighting a powerful gathering of influential artists and accomplished gallery owners who have spent decades building the infrastructure of the LA art world from behind the canvas and from behind the gallery desk.

Leading the charge is Man One, a legendary figure and pioneer of the graffiti movement who founded the landmark Crewest Gallery to legitimize street art in a professional setting. He is joined by fellow veteran L. Croskey, an influential artist and the accomplished gallery owner of Thinkspace and ArtBarLA, whose dual perspective has shaped local culture for years.
Buzzing alongside them is the Hive’s own visionary founder, artist, and accomplished gallery owner Nathan Cartwright, whose sculptural paintings and long-term commitment to the Historic Core have made him the King Bee of the DTLA scene.
The centerpiece of the new year is the 17th Annual Hive Tarot Inspired Show.

Known for its eclectic and high-quality surrealism and neo-pop illustrations, this year’s exhibition is particularly special as it features the grand opening and release of the Hive Tarot 16 physical deck, allowing collectors to take a piece of the gallery’s history home.

Opening night is Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and the show runs through the end of the month. The atmosphere will be electric with DJs curated by the legendary Superbee, live painting, and an opportunity for guests to meet the resident artists in their honeycomb-like studios.
As one of the pioneers of the Original Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk, The Hive remains a consistent anchor as well during the monthly DTLA Art Night Art Walk reboot, keeping the fire burning throughout the month with its deep roster of resident talent and frequent programming.
In addition to the works from these influential artists and accomplished gallery owners, the Tarot show brings together a massive collective of talent.
This year, 23 master artists have been selected to interpret the Major Arcana cards, including Keith Wong, Krisztianna, Vincent Truitner, Zoe Bautista, and Vincent Madrid. Beyond the Major Arcana, the Tarot Group Show features another 18 participating artists, including Courtney Moore, Super Doug, and Nefertara, bringing the total number of artists for this exhibit alone to over 40.
With a low-commission model that keeps original works affordable—ranging from $10 to $5,000—and an artist-made store where everything is under $50, The Hive remains a breeding ground for both emerging talent and new collectors. It’s the perfect entry point for those looking to invest in the downtown creative economy. Hive Gallery is located at 729 S. Spring St., LA, CA 90014. https://hivegallery.com
