The sounds of traditional Mexican ranchera music are coming to Downtown Los Angeles as GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter Lupita Infante takes the stage at The United Theater on Broadway for Canciones de Mis Ancestros, a celebration of Mexican music, family traditions, and cultural heritage.

Joined by Los Angeles singer-songwriter Doris Anahí, Infante will honor generations of Mexican musicians whose songs have become the soundtrack to countless family gatherings, celebrations, and memories.

For fans of traditional Música Mexicana, the evening promises a journey through familiar melodies, powerful vocals, and the stories behind songs that continue to connect generations.

And for fans of the legendary Pedro Infante, the concert carries an especially meaningful connection.

Lupita Infante is the granddaughter of the beloved Mexican singer and actor whose voice helped define the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Although her grandfather’s legacy remains an important part of her musical identity, Lupita has spent years establishing herself as an artist in her own right.

Raised in a working-class Mexican-American family in Southeast Los Angeles, Infante grew up surrounded by the sounds and traditions of Mexican music. She later graduated from UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music with a degree in Ethnomusicology, combining her appreciation for traditional music with a contemporary perspective shaped by her experiences as a first-generation Chicana.

Her music explores love, heartbreak, identity, resilience, and empowerment while preserving the storytelling traditions that have made ranchera music so enduring.

The upcoming concert also marks another collaboration between Infante and Doris Anahí, whose shared appreciation for Mexican musical history has already brought them together on notable Los Angeles stages.

In 2023, the two participated in Canciones de Mi Madre at The Ford, presented in partnership with the LA Phil and Solidarity for Sanctuary. That production celebrated Linda Ronstadt’s groundbreaking 1987 album Canciones de Mi Padre, which introduced traditional Mexican songs to new generations of listeners.

The celebration continued in New York City in 2025 when Doris Anahí presented Canciones de Mis Ancestros at Joe’s Pub, expanding the tribute to recognize the composers and performers who helped shape ranchera music.

Now the musical celebration returns to Los Angeles, bringing the performers together during Día de Muertos season, when families honor their ancestors and celebrate the memories of loved ones through music, food, art, and tradition.

Doris Anahí brings her own devoted following to the concert. A musician, cultural organizer, and arts advocate, she released her debut EP, Aprendiendo por las Malas, in 2022 and appeared in the Disney Original Documentary Mija, which chronicles her work in the music industry and her family’s immigration experience.

As the founder of Casa Mija and Solidarity for Sanctuary, she has helped organize cultural events celebrating Latine artists, including Selena for Sanctuary concerts at Lincoln Center, SummerStage, The Ford, and Grand Park.

Together, Infante and Anahí represent two artists dedicated to keeping Mexican musical traditions alive while introducing them to contemporary audiences.

The concert’s setting adds another layer of nostalgia. Located along Downtown Los Angeles’ historic Broadway corridor, The United Theater on Broadway is a landmark entertainment venue that continues to welcome concerts, theatrical productions, film screenings, and cultural performances.

For longtime ranchera fans, Canciones de Mis Ancestros offers an opportunity to revisit the music they grew up hearing. For younger generations, it is a chance to discover the voices, stories, and traditions that helped shape Mexican and Mexican-American culture.

And for everyone who has ever heard a beloved family song and immediately remembered someone special, this concert is a reminder that music has a way of keeping those memories alive.

Canciones de Mis Ancestros, headlined by Lupita Infante with a performance by Doris Anahí, takes place Friday, November 6, 2026. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the performance beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are available through AXS.
