Impacted by Ongoing Fires – DoorDash Service Suspended Now Revived

In response to ongoing fires throughout Los Angeles County, DoorDash has activated its Severe Weather Protocol to pause operations in affected areas.

DoorDash first suspended operations in impacted areas of Los Angeles and surrounding the Pacific Palisades, including Santa Monica, Westwood, Brentwood, Calabasas, Pasadena and surrounding areas on Tuesday, January 7th as the fires began to spread.

As conditions worsened, DoorDash took decisive action to suspend service in San Fernando, Santa Clarita, and Northridge, and will continue to adjust operations as necessary.

“What is unfolding in Los Angeles is devastating. Our thoughts are with those affected and we are incredibly grateful for the heroic efforts of firefighters and first responders,” said DoorDash spokesperson Julian Crowley. “We deeply appreciate the patience and understanding of Dashers, merchants and consumers, and will resume operations as soon as it’s safe to do so.”

No sooner did hope for deliveries faded, DoorDash took initial steps to support relief and recovery efforts across the region with programs set up to provide immediate support for the local community.

On January 8, they announced the company would be providing $150,000 in DoorDash Community Credits to first responders and organizations on the ground. These gift cards will provide immediate support to those in local shelters who have been displaced from their homes and to the firefighters on the frontlines, enabling them to get food and other essential supplies immediately.

For their closest allies, DoorDash shared news of relief through our Restaurant Disaster Relief Fund, which provides grants of $10,000 to small businesses who have been impacted by natural disasters allocating $150,000 of Disaster Relief Fund grants for restaurants specifically impacted by the Los Angeles fires. Small businesses can use these funds for structural repairs, supplies, payroll, and more.

Supporting Dashers in Need, DoorDash cleared the road with $250,000 Dasher Relief Fund with grants specific to the Los Angeles wildfires.
