Get Ready to Roll! CicLAmini Hits Pico Union Sunday May 18th

Los Angeles is getting ready for some car-free fun because CicLAvia is back, and it’s bringing its adorable little sibling, CicLAmini, to the vibrant neighborhood of Pico Union this Sunday, May 18th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.!

That’s right, for five glorious hours, a 1.4-mile stretch of Pico Boulevard, between Normandie and Union Avenues, will transform into a giant, joyful, people-powered playground. And guess what? It’s absolutely FREE for everyone!

Sunday Adventure Awaits!

Pack up the kiddos, dust off those scooters, and get ready for a Sunday Funday like no other! CicLAmini is designed with pedestrians in mind, making it the perfect adventure for families of all ages and abilities. Imagine strolling down the middle of Pico Boulevard, usually bustling with cars, now open and safe for little feet and wobbly bike wheels. Let the kids lead the way as you explore this historic neighborhood at your own pace. Keep an eye out for fun activities sprinkled along the route and make sure to stop by the two hubs for essentials, community vibes, and awesome photo ops! And for those who need a little assistance, free pedicab rides will be available near the information booths – how cool is that?

Lace Up Those Helmets!

Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just love the feeling of the wind in your hair as you roll along, CicLAmini is your jam! This pedestrian-oriented experience still welcomes all your favorite people-powered wheels. Cruise along the 1.4-mile stretch, discover hidden gems you might usually whiz past in a car, and soak in the unique energy of Pico Union. It’s a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a leisurely ride with friends, family, or even solo, feeling the freedom of open streets. Remember, only people-powered vehicles are allowed (with some specific e-bike guidelines, so be sure to check the details!), ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Breathe Easy and Celebrate!

For all you eco-conscious Angelenos, CicLAvia is more than just a fun day out – it’s a breath of fresh air! By temporarily closing streets to car traffic, CicLAvia creates a tangible vision of a greener, more sustainable city. Imagine the reduced emissions, the quieter streets, and the focus on people-powered movement. This event allows us to reimagine our urban landscape, prioritizing community connection and environmental well-being. It’s a chance to celebrate active transportation and witness firsthand the positive impact of creating car-free spaces. Inspired by Bogotá’s long-standing ciclovía, CicLAvia has been championing this movement in LA for over 14 years, helping our city move towards a more climate-resilient future.

Open Streets – Community Connection!

CicLAmini isn’t just about walking, biking, or skating; it’s about connecting with your community. It’s about bumping into neighbors, discovering local businesses, and experiencing the rich cultural tapestry of Pico Union in a whole new way. As CicLAvia’s Executive Director, Romel Pascual, beautifully puts it, Pico Union has “deep roots in the city’s dynamic cultural heritage,” and this event offers a unique opportunity to explore it free from the confines of cars. So, take your time, chat with local vendors, admire the architecture, and truly immerse yourself in the vibrant spirit of this historic neighborhood.
