The 46th annual L.A. Chinatown Firecracker 10K run is one of the longest-running and most anticipated downtown LA marathons.
This year’s run, held back in February in commendation of the Year of the Dragon, featured a 5K/10K/Kiddie/PAW’er Dog Run/Walk and 20/50-Mile Bike Ride Events over the span of two days.

On that morning, crowds gathered to celebrate the run with food, drinks, music, and traditional street performances, including the lighting of 100,000 fireworks at Chinatown Plaza in Downtown LA.
Bringing thousands of healthy participants, the completely sold-out event produced by the nonprofit L.A. Chinatown Firecracker Run Committee (LACFRC) once again pulled off one of Downtown’s healthiest events of the year, promoting fitness and cultural awareness at the same time.
Each year, the volunteer driven event donates its proceeds to neighboring elementary schools and other non-profit organizations that provide exceptional services and programs, raising awareness of physical fitness and healthy lifestyles for seniors and youth.

In downtown, those awards went to Ann Street Elementary School, Castelar Street Elementary School, Alpine Recreation Center, Chinatown Service Center, Chinese Historical Society of SoCal and Friends of Chinatown Library, Chinese Family History Group of Southern CA, and Chinese American Museum.
Little Tokyo’s Visual Communication Media, a non-profit supporting the voices of Asian American and Pacific Islander filmmakers, was also honored with donations.
A fan favorite event, Downtown LA anticipates the next Chinatown Firecracker, sure to attract over 35,000 spectators virtually and 10,000 participants over a two-day period in celebration, Chinese Lunar New Year 2025—The Year of the Snake.
