After a three-year absence, one of comedy’s most anticipated gatherings is making its return to Los Angeles as comedians, actors, writers, producers and entertainment executives from across the country reunite for Hope Flood’s 11th Annual Comics Rock Convention. Taking place July 19 through July 23, the convention is more than a series of comedy shows—it’s a week-long celebration of the people behind the laughs and the business that keeps comedy evolving.

For more than a decade, the Comics Rock Convention has carved out a unique place in the entertainment industry by blending education, networking and live performances under one roof. While audiences often see comedians on stage or streaming platforms, the convention pulls back the curtain on the work that happens behind the scenes, bringing together professionals from television, film, radio, podcasting and digital media to share knowledge with aspiring entertainers looking to build lasting careers.

This year’s convention carries even greater significance as founder and executive producer Hope Flood celebrates her 60th birthday. A respected comedian, producer and entrepreneur, Flood has spent decades championing opportunities for performers while preserving the history and culture of Black comedy. Her birthday celebration, “Hollywood Comes To Da Wood” With A Little Bit of Trouble, will serve as both a personal milestone and a tribute to the artists whose work has shaped generations of entertainment.

One of the week’s most anticipated events will be the Purple Carpet Celebrity Comedy Awards Tribute, which will be livestreamed for audiences around the world. The ceremony recognizes artists whose influence extends far beyond the stage. This year’s honorees include Deon Cole, who will receive the Comedian of the Year Award; Miguel A. Nunez Jr., who will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award; Alex Thomas, recipient of the Living Legacy Icon Award; and Daphnique Springs, who will be recognized as Internet Comedienne of the Year.

Beyond the celebrity appearances, the Comics Rock Convention has built its reputation as a place where careers begin. Throughout the week, attendees will participate in workshops and industry discussions covering comedy writing, producing, branding, entrepreneurship, touring, content creation and media opportunities. Veteran comedians, producers, executives and writers will offer practical advice on navigating an entertainment landscape that continues to evolve through streaming platforms, podcasts and social media.

The convention opens Sunday with a beachside meet-and-greet, registration activities and Hope Flood’s birthday gala before transitioning into several days of educational programming, networking events and comedy showcases. Monday evening features a rooftop showcase hosted by Torrei Hart, while Tuesday includes a keynote address from comedy expert Judy Carter, a celebrity industry mixer and the Purple Carpet Celebrity Comedy Awards. Wednesday continues with workshops before the comedy showcase at the HaHa Comedy Club hosted by Mario Hodge. The week concludes Thursday with the Farewell Boots & Booties BBQ at Ladera Park and an evening showcase at Stand Up Comedy Club hosted by Rodney Perry.

Flood says the convention has always been about much more than making people laugh.

“Comedy has always been about more than laughs,” she said. “It’s business, truth, culture, and connection. Comics Rock Convention is a celebration of where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate 60 years of life than by honoring the art form that gave me my voice.”

Hosted in the entertainment capital of the world, the Comics Rock Convention has grown into one of the few events dedicated to connecting established entertainers with the next generation of comics and creators. It is a place where aspiring performers can learn directly from industry veterans, where business relationships are formed, and where the accomplishments of comedy’s most influential voices are recognized before their peers.

Registration is now open, along with vendor opportunities, sponsorship packages, media credentials and partnership opportunities. More information is available at ComicsRockConvention.com.
