From Rooftops to Coffee Raves: How Quantum Groove is Changing DTLA’s Music Scene

As the sun sets over Downtown LA rooftops, a different kind of energy pulses through the air. It’s not the frenetic rush of the workday, but the rhythmic heartbeats of international DJs, attendees, and interactive installations coming together high above the city. This isn’t just a party—it’s Quantum Groove, the vision of founder Arthur Gonzalez.

After leaving the finance world, the pandemic reignited Gonzalez’s passion for music, leading him back to the rave scene. With a deep love for DJing and house music since the age of 18, he recognized a gap in the market for daytime house music events. He founded Quantum Groove with a mission: to bring the energy and community of underground raves into the light of day, in unique and accessible locations.

“I noticed there was a huge gap in the community to experience a house music event that isn’t in a nightclub. I wanted to bring people in the light of day in unique locations,” Gonzalez shares.

A Name Inspired by Quantum Theory

The name Quantum Groove isn’t just a catchy title—it reflects Gonzalez’s fascination with quantum theory and its connection to human energy. He sees a parallel between the physics concept of entanglement and the way music unites people across space and time.

“Quantum theory inspired me to create events where people can experience that connection through music, art, and movement. It’s about manifesting good energy and creating a community that resonates on the same frequency,” he says.

From the way DJs are paired to the carefully curated venues, every Quantum Groove experience is designed to harness this energy, turning a rooftop or park into a living experiment in shared joy.

Spotlighting Emerging Talent

One of Quantum Groove’s standout features is its commitment to showcasing up-and-coming DJs alongside established artists. By hosting open deck sessions and collaborating with underground collectives, Gonzalez provides a platform for new talent to shine. This approach not only diversifies the lineup but also fosters a sense of inclusivity and growth within the community.

Looking Ahead: Expanding the Groove

Looking to the future, Gonzalez envisions Quantum Groove expanding beyond Los Angeles, creating a global collective that celebrates house music and community.

“I want to build a foundation that allows us to replicate this model in other cities, helping emerging artists gain exposure and creating spaces where people can come together to dance and rejoice,” he says.

For Gonzalez, Quantum Groove is more than just an event series—it’s a calling.

“I truly believe this is my God-given mission. It’s my life’s work to have people experience house music in a new way. It’s about creating a space where we can all dance and rejoice, united under one sound,” he reflects.
