Discovery Runs Deep - RIDE THE D! Metro New Line Set to Open With Celebrations Across LA

Don’t blame us for the title! This is exactly how Metro was marketing their new Metro D Line Extension, scheduled to officially open on Friday, May 8, 2026. And despite turning heads with this explicit marketing campaign for the last three months, this expansion is sexy, introducing three new stations located at Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax, and Wilshire/La Cienega. The new infrastructure extends existing D Line service from Downtown Los Angeles further west into the Beverly Hills area.

To commemorate the expansion, Metro is hosting a community event titled “Discovery Runs Deep.” The celebration will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the three newly inaugurated stations as well as the existing Wilshire/Western Station.

Activities planned for the afternoon include live DJ sets curated by Metro Art and KCRW’s “Soundtrips,” alongside food offerings from local vendors. The event will also feature family-oriented activities, presence from museum partners, and informational booths hosted by various community organizations.
